  • LOVE my PDP 6010FD
  • By:  Rob Throm  Owned for:  3  Weeks

  • Pros:  Beautiful picture, great sound, excellent connections.
  • Cons:  Remote is not back lit. Finish attracts dust. Stand feels cheap.

  • Review Comments: Can't say enough good things about the picture. Sound is better then expected. I play video game and see no problem with lag or burn in. The cons are pretty minor but nonetheless exist. The lack of a backlit remote makes it hard to use in the dark, at least at first. As time goes by I am learning where things are by feel but would still like a back lit remote. The finish is very nice but it ends up being an intense magnet for dust/lint due to the static charge so it always looks dirty (I have 1 dog, 2 cats and 2 little kids). As I mentioned above, the stand feels cheap.

  • The way HD should look and sound.
  • By:  Dan T  Owned for:  1  Weeks

  • Pros:  Immaculate video and sound. ( With 5.1 sound system)
  • Cons:  The removal of un wanted channels could be more user friendly.

  • Review Comments: I watched the night sky line of NYC and was blown away. The New Years Eve Time Sq overhead night shots with the red hats was breathtaking. I cannot wait for the dvd format war to end allowing me to see the full beauty of this exceptional TV.

  • Pioneer PDP-6010FD.. One nice set, but expensive.
  • By:  Hawk318  Owned for:  10  Days

  • Pros:  Great picture, very functional remote.
  • Cons:  Price...Side bars.

  • Review Comments:  The Pioneer PDP-6010FD stands out among other 50" to 60" plasma HD-TV's when I was comparing picture quality, tone, and just about everything one can compare. The Pioneer name and quality, which was a big selling point due to the fact that the $5500.00 was one thousand below the MSRP. Now that being said, the HD-TV is outstanding. everything about the picture, menu(s) is great. The included sound/ speakers are nice and well balanced, but for the sound mavens, will leave something to desire. There are plenty of extra hookups to add those wall shaking speakers. The remote is well laid out with buttons for those certain functions that one needs with todays HD TV's and signals. There is the standard "Go back" but also there are 4 buttons you can set to go to your favorite channel's with one click. I would have liked to see a more programmable remote as with most homes having some form of PVR using this remote will lack needed features if you have something like "Tivo" or like components. Also this remote has so many nice features, it would be difficult to program into my Harmony/ Logitec 800 remote. There is some minor artifacts I've noticed, but as HD-TV has it's own flaws in broadcasts, I never can tell if the slight blurring is due to the set or "over air" broadcasts (I suspect the latter) There are '4' 1.3 HDMI hookups (with a button to control each one of them...no menu to scroll through to find your input) which are great due to the fact that so many components are now using HDMI. I hooked my new "Toshiba HD/DVD" into the first HDMI and when I decide between HD cable or satellite I'll use another as both boxes use HDMI now. With most sets, you'd be out of luck adding any thing else, but this set gives you two more. There are also several standard (red, yellow, black, s-video)component jacks for those older units. Another button that I find extremely useful is the "Screen size". Most of you that have HD know the varying screen sizes that are out there. Well this Pioneer does great on detecting the correct screen size on the HD channels. Sadly regular analog channels do not have indicators to tell your TV what size the screen size is. Pioneer's screen size button lets you jump through the various sizes without having to go through several menus.... Just click the button to toggle through them. Price is the biggest con I could find. For the price I would have liked to see a better remote. This remote is laid out (as mentioned) out extremely well, but not the "all around" remote one would like to see. The only other con is....The "side bars" are a horrible Grey! Not black. The bright side is the "full" screen setting allows the people on screen look normal (not squat) and most HD stations/ signals have their own default sidebars that are much better then Grey. There may be a way to change the default Grey to black, but as of yet, it has eluded me. Only two minor cons of any product put it a must buy in my book, so I have to give this a whopping "Thumbs up". I should add I completely assembled this unit in just under 90 minutes. (Added the stands, speakers and had the basic menu set up) I did go in the next day, into the "Advanced setting" and tweaked the set much better. A lot of the settings are set to low or off as the default. So for those that have some knowledge or the lack of fear to play with the settings.... Try it and see before you pay those big bucks to have someone come out and "Professionally adjust" you set for you. Not that I did it better then a professional, but I'm happy with the picture I have. There is also the menu ability to see the picture "before" and "after" so after tweaking, if you don't like it, set it back. Not to mention theres a "Manufacturers default" if you just want to toss up your hands and try again (or call a professional).

  • Pros:  Simply the best plasma on the market
  • Cons:  pricey

  • Review Comments:  I have been looking, searching, and reading about HDTV's for over a year now. My eyes told me it must be plasma and it has to be Pioneer. My wallet told me Plasma Concepts. Turns out the critics also agree. Great TV. Don't fret about shopping online. These guys are pros. If you need to see the picture, go to Best Buy. When you need to save a grand, shop here.
