  • Pioneer is top notch

  • Review Comments: The 5080HD offers the best picture of all plasmas. I did a lot of internet research, including reading professional reviews, before purchasing this TV and could not be more happy with it. I would highly suggest it to anyone looking for a 50 inch plasma. Don't buy into the 1080p hype. For a 50 inch TV you will notice no difference between a 720p and 1080p TV unless you are sitting 6 feet away and watching a Blu Ray movie (1080p source). 1080p is really only needed for TVs larger than 50 inches. Now that the price has gone done significantly on this model, it is a great time to pick one up while you still can. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

  • This is a great plasma TV at a really great price.
  • By:  witold  Owned for:  12  Days

  • Pros:  Picture quality, connections, aesthetics
  • Cons:  heavy:)

  • Review Comments: I was trying to decide between this Pioneer and Panasonic TH50PZ750. I did some research, read some reviews, and finally went to a local store to compare them side by side. I did not see any difference between 720p vs 1080p when watching DVD and blueray discs; however, I could see a difference in quality as far as regular (not HD) broadcast was concerned. Pionner looked definitely better to my eyes with really deep blacks. Since the price of Pioneer was lower than Panasonic, the choice was no-brainer in my case.

  • Plasma Concepts has the best price and great service....
  • By:  Jeff  Owned for:  1  Months

  • Pros:  Insane picture quality and good stock sound
  • Cons:  Minor buzzing with included sound bar...only noticed when close to screen or at very low volumes

  • Review Comments: This plasma has really lived up to all its positive reviews. The black levels and overall picture are truly stunning. We watched Gladiator (480p) and it was awesome. The sound from the included sound bar is very good. My wife was frightened by the horses as they galloped past the Roman army. I also watched Sin City to test the black performance and I was very impressed. The TV's menu is easy to use and has cool features. There are two power saver modes which reduce the brightness. I have it set to the highest saver setting and it doesn't take away from the images. High-def on this plasma is outstanding. The ESPN commentators look like holograms and while watching the nature shows you'll swear there are tigers walking around your living room. 1080p?720p? who cares?..This set screams performance. You can't go wrong with this one. When choosing a screen size don't only calculate optimal viewing distance, think about how well it fits the room size. We're sitting 11 feet away and looks perfect, but a 42" may have looked less dominating in the smaller living room, but we're not complaining. As far as the Kuro's price...well, you get what you pay for.

  • Pioneer PDP5080-HD
  • By:  Johnny  Owned for:  1  Months

  • Pros:  Quality, value & great customer service.
  • Cons:  Remote. Single sensor on TV can lead to connectivity issues. Universal remote codes are challenging and required a Google search in order to find the trick for my Dish Network remote. Buttons on non-Pioneer remote need to be pressed down for a couple of seconds before function responds. On Pioneer remote I believe the channel and volume toggles should be reversed...my opinion, of course.

  • Review Comments: After dozens of hours researching a new flat-screen I finally found the best TV for me. For a novice AV-phile it takes a lot of reading before you can discern what features and technology are important to consider and which ones are over-hyped. Things I considered in making my decision: - Law of diminishing returns. For me, a $4K+ unit wouldn't be twice a good as a $2K unit. - I don't plan to own a Blu-Ray any time soon and 1080P cable/sat signals are years away, so why place too much emphasis on 1080P. Sets that did a great job of converting native signals became my focus. - Best black levels. The foundation of a great picture. Don't be fooled by mal-adjusted sets at the big stores. - Product reliability history. For plasmas, Pioneer is tops on many lists. - Value. With the bottom mounted speaker on Kuro, the width of a Pioneer 50" is practically the same as many other manufacturer's 46" models. These top rated Pioneer plasmas are priced similarly (usually better) to most top rated LCDs. The feature set (HDMIs, etc) are hard to beat with Pioneer. - It's made in America (with Japanese parts). I like that a big portion of my purchase price is being reinvested in the USA. - I received great customer service throughout the entire process from Plasmaconcepts. Quickly processed the order, great communication, quick shipment and careful handling of the delivery. The biggest bonus is that they also offered the best price...and I did considerable shopping around. -

  • Best TV in it's class
  • By:  Chun  Owned for:  3  Weeks

  • Pros:  excellent picture quality, deep rich black color, lots of connection options
  • Cons:  price

  • Review Comments: The picture quality on this TV is amazing. The blacks are deep and rich and watching HD programming almost seems like you're looking through a window rather than watching a TV screen. Standard definition TV also look better than most other TVs I've looked at. Other TVs I was considering were: Panasonic TH-50PZ700U, Panasonic TH-50PZ77U, and Samsung FP-T5084. I had an opportunity to see all these side by side and the picture quality on the Pioneer beats it hands down, even though the others were 1080p sets. Don't be fooled by resolution, at greater than 8-10 feet viewing distance, your eyes can't tell the difference. While there are less expensive TVs with the same specs, you won't find one with the same picture quality.

  • Always wanted a Pioneer 50"
  • By:  Gary of Orlando, FL  Owned for:  1  Months

  • Pros:  Beautiful picture, easy set-up, user friendly remote control.
  • Cons:  None yet.

  • Review Comments:  The picture is beautiful, colors seem to POP out at you and the blacks are BLACK! The detail of the picture is amazing. Have it hooked up to a over the air antenna mounted on my roof. This is my second plasma, the other is a 42" which I have moved to my bedroom, the Pioneer 5080 replaceded it in the family room. I was very skeptical about purchasing such a big buck item over the internet but after speaking with Dan of Plasma Concepts on the phone I ordered the Pioneer. You have a very reputiable company and professional employees and YES I would recommend Plasma Concepts to anyone looking to purchase either a Plasma or LCD over the internet or ANYWHERE!

  • Review Comments: After installing the Plasma on the wall, I must say I'm very content on the performance of this TV. Vivid colors, size and it's portability to be mounted on the wall makes this perfect for an apartment. I wish it could have been a little bit cheaper so that I can afford a 60 Inches instead

  • A must buy for anyone looking for the best plasma!
  • By:  Vinh Nguyen  Owned for:  12  Days

  • Pros:  4 HDMI ports. Blacks are very black. Best picture quality I have seen. I believe this a huge improvement over the 5070.
  • Cons:  Only that it is 720p, but at 10ft I don't notice it. But if you're watching lots of standard def, it doesn't matter. Also, the HD channels i get through cable are very sharp and clear, but there are not many channels in HD and it's compressed compared to over the air antenna.

  • Review Comments: I love this television! It's so nice. I can't find any fault with it. Yes the blacks are very black, not as black as the frame itself but very close. Standard def on this tv is okay, but after a while you forget about the sharpness... until you turn to your HD channels! Wow amazing! So clear and vibrant and detailed. If 1080p is a big issue for you, then wait until September. You will have to pay much more and will only benefit from it if you watch tons of hi-def movies or play PS3 or Xbox 360.
