The Pioneer KURO PDP-5020FD 50" 1080p plasma is now available and ready to ship. You can find details on Plasma Concepts. This unit is the replacement to the Pioneer PDP-5010FD.

Pioneer PDP-6020FD Now Shipping

The Pioneer PDP-6020FD KURO 60" 1080P plasma is now available and shipping. This model replaces the Pioneer PDP-6010FD and looks to be a great unit.

New Pioneer KURO Plasmas announced

During a press conference in New York on Wednesday Pioneer announced the new line of KURO Plasmas. For the Plasma TVs, both the 50-inch ($4,000 suggested retail) and 60-inch ($5,500) Pioneer models will ship in June, or hopefully sooner, and offer one-year warranties. Plasma Concepts will offer these models as soon as they become available.

Pioneer Exits Plasma TV Production

Pioneer Electronics announced that it is exiting the Plasma TV Production business. The company will still market Plasma TVs, but the components will be from another manufacturer, which is rumored to be Panasonic. Pioneer also announced that they will enter the LCD TV market as early as this fall, thanks to a recent agreement with Sharp. I personally hope this will not affect the quality of their Plasma TV line, which has made enormous gains recently with the introduction of the KURO line of Plasma TVs. The KURO line currently has the best black levels in the industry and also the best overall picture quality in my opinion.
