DIRECTV has announced new packages and promotions effective February 27th, 2008. Customers can receive up to $18 off per month for 12 months when completing a new activation. Also, Starz and Showtime will be free for 3 months. This is one of their better offers that I have seen since being a DIRECTV dealer (second only to the promotion that is run for NFL Sunday Ticket) .DIRECTV currently has over 90 national HD channels with more on the way, so getting HD content for your new HDTV is no longer an issue.
DIRECTV is also currently rolling out a VOD solution that works over your broadband connection, and I must say that it has been very impressive from what I have seen so far. One of the other nice features that are new is the ability to remotely schedule recordings for your DVR. I have personally used this and it worked great. I just logged into my account at DIRECTV while at work, found the program I wanted to record, and it sent all the details to my box at home and recorded the show for me to watch later.
They still have the hardware rebates going on as well, so an HD or DVR box is free after rebate and the HD DVR will only be $99 after rebate (the choice xtra package must be purchased to get this instant rebate).
